The purpose of this workshop is to discuss, compare, and share information regarding select sessions on research trends for I-O psychologists and HR practitioners from the 33rd annual conference for the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), Chicago, IL. Dr. Randall H. Lucius will facilitate a session in which presenters will share highlights from presentations given at SIOP and discuss implications for teaching and/or practice, with audience participation encouraged throughout. Handouts will be provided as appropriate in advance of the workshop.

Presenters:
Randall H. Lucius, PhD has been with Emory for over 5 years, and works within the Learning and Organizational Development Department of Human Resources for Emory University as the Director of Organizational Development. Prior to joining Emory he worked as a consultant, with over 15 years of progressive consulting experience that spans such diverse areas as executive assessment and coaching, job analysis, competency modeling, employee selection, litigation support, performance management, 360 degree feedback, frame-of-reference training, organizational re-structuring, employee opinion surveys, personality assessment, and leadership development. He has worked for numerous organizations of all sizes and types from small to the Fortune 500, government agencies, and non-profit. Dr. Lucius graduated from The University of Georgia with a doctorate degree in Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology. Prior experiences include Research Director for Fitability, Project Manager for Applied Psychological Techniques, and Vice President of the Turknett Leadership Group. Dr. Lucius is the co-author of the Fitability 5, a personality-based assessment administered to over a quarter-million individuals across the U.S. Dr. Lucius' co-founded Organizational Diagnostics Online, a company acquired by Fitability in 2001. Dr. Lucius is a licensed psychologist, has served as an adjunct faculty member at Oglethorpe University, and once served as the President for the Atlanta Society of Applied Psychology. Dr. Lucius is also a part-time faculty member of the I/O Master's degree program at the University of Georgia.
Sarah Carr Evans, PhD is a principal consultant at Leadership Insights Consulting, LLC, providing executive assessment, coaching, leadership development, and succession planning. She has partnered with numerous Fortune 500, private, and nonprofit organizations to design, implement, optimize, and measure the impact of human capital initiatives that extend the full breadth of the leadership life cycle from selection to succession. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate from The University of Georgia, Dr. Evans earned a bachelor's degree in English and psychology in 1997 and returned for master's and doctorate degrees in industrial/organizational psychology in 2002. After completing her education, Dr. Evans served as a consultant, executive coach, and onboarding expert to leaders, C-suite executives, and their boards of directors before establishing her own consultancy practice in 2015. Through this work she has created and delivered leadership and board development programs, conducted "bench strength" analyses, and provided critical recommendations regarding organizational design and succession planning. Additionally, Dr. Evans serves as a senior consultant with NuBrick Partners, which supports executive search and provides talent and leadership solutions to a variety of industries including healthcare and insurance. She is also a member of the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
Michele Ingram Mobley, PhD is a licensed psychologist with Management Psychology Group, where she specializes in individual assessment, selection system design and validation, and group development initiatives. She works with clients across a variety of industries, including restaurant and hospitality, retail, financial services, and manufacturing and production. She's been with MPG for 19 years. Prior to MPG, she worked with Aon Consulting and Bleke and Boyd. She earned her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has an undergraduate degree in psychology and music from Agnes Scott College.
Amber Fritsch, MA is a Senior Consultant at APTMetrics where she provides human resource consulting in the areas of job analysis, competency modeling, selection, leadership assessment, and litigation support. Amber received her master's degree from Middle Tennessee State University's (MTSU) I-O psychology program. Prior to joining APTMetrics, Amber worked as a Project Associate at the Center for Organizational and Human Resource Effectiveness, as the Psychology Graduate Assistant Research Lead for the NASA Flight Operations Center - Unified Simulation (FOCUS) Lab at MTSU, and as an intern in the human resource and training department at a Nestle Nutrition manufacturing plant. She has published research in Practical Assessment, Research & Evaluation, and has presented at the Annual Convention of the Association for Psychological Science and the Annual Conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). She is a member of SIOP and the Georgia Association for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (GAIOP). She currently serves as a volunteer on the SIOP Education and Training Committee and the GAIOP Program Committee.
A. James Illingworth, PhD is an Industrial-Organizational (I-O) psychologist who works with organizations to implement technology-based talent solutions. Prior to his current position at Geode People as Director of Talent Solutions, he worked at PDRI and APTMetrics providing talent management consulting services to federal government agencies and Fortune 500 organizations across a wide range of industries and job levels. His areas of expertise include job analysis and competency modeling; assessment development, validation, and implementation; performance management; employee training and development; and the legal compliance and defensibility of personnel selection processes. Dr. Illingworth’s research focuses on the application of emerging technologies to hiring and promotional assessments, including mobile devices, big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and virtual/augmented reality. His research has been published in the International Journal of Selection & Assessment, Industrial & Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science & Practice, Journal of Business Psychology, and Personality & Individual Differences, as well as two book chapters about big data talent assessment and internet-based recruitment. Dr. Illingworth received his MS and PhD in I-O Psychology from The University of Akron.
