The Impact of Covid-19 on Work and Employee Engagement

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted millions of lives and fundamentally altered the world of work.  This seminar will explore the ways in which work has changed, and how new stressors are being handled by employees.  Recent employee engagement survey data will be presented and discussed, noting changes over time.  In addition, participants will learn what employers are doing to keep employees engaged and avoid burnout.  The session will also include a discussion of predictions for the future of work.  

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the major changes in work that Covid-19 has caused and how companies are addressing them.
  • Understand how Covid-19 has impacted employee engagement and well-being.
  • Learn ways in which companies are staying engaged with their employees.
  • Get insight into how work will change in the future as a result of the pandemic.

Intended audience:

This session is intended for a general audience at a post-graduate level; no specific content knowledge is required.

Continuing Education (CE) Credits:

This workshop is eligible for 3.0 continuing education credits for psychologists. You must attend the entire workshop to receive credit.  No partial credit is allowed.  SIOP will email CE letters 30 days after the workshop to the individuals who responded 'Yes' to question #1 on the post-event evaluation form.

Presenters:

Stephanie Downey, Ph.D. is a People Science Senior Consultant at Glint, and is based in Virginia Beach, VA. She helps companies leverage people data and focus on creating people centric talent strategies.  Before joining Glint, she worked as an internal organizational development consultant with NCR, a large global Fortune 500 organization. At NCR she led several initiatives across the talent development space in the areas of engagement and culture, selection, assessment, leadership development, talent management, and diversity and inclusion. Stephanie has published and presented her research at professional conferences on topics related to diversity and inclusion, trust, employee engagement, and organizational culture. Stephanie received her Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Georgia.

Lauren Kane, Ph.D. is a People Science Senior Consultant at Glint, and is based in the greater Philadelphia area. She has helped organizations and leaders create high performance organizations and improve employee engagement for over a decade. Lauren has presented her work at professional conferences, including the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Lauren has a doctoral degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the City University of New York. She has consulted with Fortune 500 organizations of various sizes and sectors.
