The purpose of this seminar is to discuss and share information regarding select educational sessions on research trends for I-O psychologists and HR practitioners presented at the 38th annual conference of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), Boston, MA. Dr. Kay Loerch will facilitate a session in which presenters will share highlights from presentations given at the annual conference and discuss implications for teaching and/or practice. The format will be an informal discussion with audience participation encouraged throughout. Handouts will be provided as appropriate in advance of the webinar.

  • Religion at the workplace: A conversation on an overlooked aspect of diversity
  • Creating a competitive edge through assessments at all levels
  • Measuring and demonstrating the impact of talent management practices on organizational outcomes
  • IO and HR: How to best communicate with HR

Intended Audience

This seminar is intended for a general audience at a postgraduate level; no specific content knowledge is required.


Learning Objectives

  • Highlight current research efforts and advancements in the field of I-O Psychology and related HR practices for each of the four sessions presented at this webinar.

  • Explain and discuss at least one current trend in I-O Psychology from each of the four selected sessions that are relevant to faculty members and practitioners on HR development including diversity, talent management, and communication.

  • Identify and critique immediate- and longer-term implications of the current trends identified from the four selected sessions on teaching and practice, including the application of these findings.

  • Identify two or three of the ideas/trends/strategies gleaned from these discussions that can and/or will be applied to one’s own current practice and/or teaching approach.


Continuing Education (CE) Credits

This seminar is eligible for 3.0 continuing education credits for psychologists. To qualify for these credits, the entire program must be attended. There is no partial credits available. SIOP will email CE letters 30 days after the session to the individuals who responded "Yes" to question #1 on the post-event evaluation.





Your Presenters

Anna Crawford is a doctoral student at Louisiana Tech University's Industrial and Organizational Psychology program. In 2022, Anna presented at SIOP on the future of work, and that work has led to another SIOP 2023 presentation and book chapter scheduled to be published this year. Anna has completed all of her coursework and is now focusing on passing her comprehensive exams and finishing her dissertation. While in classes for her doctoral program, Anna worked for AROS consulting. In 2021, Anna co-led an internal project to improve feedback, worked on various grant projects, aided in the development of an assessment center for AROS, and worked on a project for the College of Education. She also presented virtually for IPAC. In 2020, Anna started an internal project to improve feedback, helped lead an interview training workshop, worked on a project for Experience Ruston, and worked on a project for the College of Education. Anna's research interests are in motivation, gender and work, the future of work, and automation. She is currently working on her dissertation titled The Future is Near: Automation, Organizational Commitment, and Job Insecurity about automation and the future of work. 

Dave Lux, Ph.D. is an HR Compliance Specialist - Assessment Manager with Koch Capabilities, LLC who has spent the last 20+ years helping clients attract, select, and promote employees. He has worked on a variety of projects in the areas of selection system development and implementation, performance management, 360 surveys, background and drug screening, equal pay analyses, and WOTC utilization. He received his MA and Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Central Michigan University and his BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Dave is a member of the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and is a licensed psychologist (PSY002392) in Georgia.

Rob Stilson, Ph.D. is an accomplished People Analytics Principal Analyst with Boston Scientific and part-time professor for the University of Georgia. Before his current role, Rob was a Manager of People Analytics at PwC on the Workforce Transformation team. Prior to working for PwC Rob was a Sr. Human Capital Analyst with Lockheed Martin on the Employee Experience & Engagement team specializing in Employee Life Cycle Analytics and qualitative and quantitative Survey Analysis. Before joining Lockheed Martin, he was the Director, Research and Test Development for TalentQuest, providing test and simulation creation for clients along with survey and ROI analysis. Preceding TQ, he was the Senior Manager, Research and Development for FurstPerson where he created computer adaptive and static tests for various clients. Additionally, he has experience as a freelance consultant providing reporting automation and testing expertise to various clients. Dr. Stilson earned his B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida and he is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), People Analytics Future of Work (PAFOW) and Georgia Association for Industrial Organizational Psychology (GAIOP).
