In the past 18 months, the conversation around AI ethics has evolved from conceptual principles to enforceable governance frameworks. Regulators and standards bodies around the world are converging on risk-based approaches that require organizations to demonstrate safety, fairness, transparency, privacy protection, and accountability in their use of AI. These frameworks are shaping how employers integrate, monitor, and validate AI systems within the workplace.
For Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, this represents both an opportunity and a responsibility. As AI-driven tools increasingly influence talent acquisition, assessment, performance management, and employee experience, practitioners must ensure these systems remain valid, explainable, and aligned with professional and ethical standards.
This interactive workshop, co-facilitated by Dr. Rob Stilson and Dr. Charles Handler, explores how emerging global regulations and governance frameworks—including the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, United States Federal AI Guidance (OMB M-24-10), NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and ISO/IEC 42001—are shaping the ethical landscape for organizations. Participants will gain practical tools for assessing risk, validating AI-enabled assessments, ensuring fairness, and embedding governance controls into the employee lifecycle.
The session bridges compliance requirements with applied Industrial and Organizational rigor, showing how familiar concepts like validation studies, adverse impact auditing, construct integrity, and data governance form the foundation for responsible AI oversight. Attendees will leave equipped to translate ethical principles into tangible actions within their organizations.
This event fulfills the GAIOP Ethics CEU requirement and serves as the final opportunity for professionals to meet the 2025 ethics mandate.
